Brakes

Your Vehicle's Braking System

Your vehicle's braking system is crucial to your safety, and to the safety of other road users, ensuring that you can manoeuvre your vehicle in a controlled manner. Your braking system is made up of a combination of the following; brake discs, brake pads or shoes, callipers, master cylinder, servo, brake fluid and cylinders... all connected by a series of hoses and pipes. We always recommend using the best braking components you can afford, as you really do not want them to fail when you need them most! Given the crucial job they do, why use cheap components!

How your brakes work...

The brake pedal is linked to the master cylinder in the engine compartment and the cylinder filled with brake fluid . When you push down on the brake pedal, hydraulic pressure is built up in the master cylinder. Brake fluid is then sent through a series of pipes and hoses to the hydraulically activated pistons in each wheel's hub assembly, forcing your pads or shoes against the rotating disc, which subsequently stops the car.
