MoTs

What is an MOT? Ultimately... it's a yearly, compulsory health check for every vehicle older than 3 years and is governed by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA). If you have a car older than 3 years and younger than 40 - and you drive it on the road - it will need an MOT, every year.

Once we have completed the mandatory safety checks in the MOT, we will provide you with your vehicle's MOT Certificate, or a Refusal of MOT Certificate. That certificate will list the:-
Major Defects: MOT fail, listing the things that need immediate repair before an MOT certificate is issued,
Minor Defects: MOT pass, but there are repairs which need to be completed as soon as possible,
Advisories: MOT pass, but there are things that will need to be checked again in the future.

Our fully qualified MOT testers have to comply with strict guidelines as directed from the DVSA - we never deviate from those guidelines or compromise your safety, putting the wellbeing of you and your family first. We also take the time to show you all the defects and advisories, so you can have confidence in our services.

Advice from the experts

"Our advice to everyone is the same... beware of cheap MOT offers! Some garages will charge a discounted rate but they usually make their money from you somewhere else. Some garages offer and charge for a pre-MOT check. This really is a false economy as there is no extra charge for a retest should your car fail. You’re usually better off putting the car through the test, doing the appropriate repairs, then having the free retest. This means you are only paying for one MOT instead of a pre-MOT and MOT on top."
